Italy C4 – 12th-16th March 2018
ACTIVITIES
A30 – students will look for information about any kind of prejudice (anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia, and bias) and express their own opinions about anti-prejudice actions by writing texts/list of definitions and their solutions (What do they think people should do to break these barriers?).
A32 – Students must write essays about a personal experience with prejudice or a success story in the fight against it. (I think they could include the bullying phenomenon or Internet addiction which can be considered types of discrimination or abuse). The essays can be read during the meeting in a debate and as an outcome we can select ideas, opinions and create booklet/flyers; that’s why maybe it will be fine if the texts are written on the computer and saved on the memory sticks.
A34 - activities organized in the school with the invitation of a judge, head of the police, a lawyer presenting the students about rights / duties, rules of compliance with the legislation. Regarding of this, can we have a kind of International Conference in Italy? I mean all the students and teachers to take part in a Conference organized by the Italian school with Ortona personalities who have professional tangency on human rights / civil rights. (An outcome can be the Certificate of attendance this Conference)
A36 – Diversity Club to promote “A world of difference”. In the previous meeting we decided that students will make a PPT presentation about differences, but I think that we must think also at what or how can we make the difference…(perhaps we can talk about people with needs or in needs, and how we help them…volunteering, material or psychological help, taking care of them, etc.) What do you think?
A39 – Reasons of conflicts, search for information (selected information can be saved/written in a brochure); In Italy students and teachers will look for solution in a debate/discussion activity. An outcome can be the brochure and maybe a short film from the debate.
A41 – At this point (organize a play by students against prejudice) we decided that our students can do/play short theater sketches on topic such as bullying/disabilities, and they have to write the scripts; unfortunately, I don’t think my students can do it! I am trying, but I am not sure! I am thinking of a short comic (a story in a comic way)…I am still thinking of this activity….
A44- Karaoke…students try to sing along all the songs they have already sang in the project or other songs that have an appropriate message for our project. This will be done in Italy of course!
A45- Interviews with grandparents. Each team will have an interview not too long (5 minutes) and they will be display in Italy during the meeting. I think that we can create a kind of feedback asking students what they got from these interviews and what they think about. An outcome can be the total message extracted from all these interviews, done by someone who can do it. I'm thinking of the interview pieces to be cut and fused so that in the end we have an anti-bias message.
A47 – Posters. We can create posters about what we got /achieved from these project….That's why each team has colored markers, scissors, glue, photos, etc. and creativity.
A50 – Open arms, open mind! I think we can ask students how they understand life nowadays and if they are if they are quite open for the old as they are open for the new. Do the good manners, the traditions, the customs matter, nowadays?
A54 – working together on exploited children, women's rights….I don’t know exactly what we have to do….
CULTURAL EVENING
Each team will bring traditional products/food
Each team will make a video about how a traditional dish is made
